beautiful things

Photobucket I bought a bunch of great vitamins today, most of which are mood enhancing/stress relieving, so hopefully I'll be feeling a bit more relaxed soon.

I am consumed with my Benjamin project. Also, I'm stuck between really loving it, and really wanting it to be over.

A little Kerouac before bed:

He is your friend, let him dream;
He's not your brother he's not your father,
He's not St. Michael he's a guy

He's married, he works, go on sleeping
On the other side of the world,
Go thinking in the Great European Night

I'm explaining him to you my way not yours,
Child, dog, --listen: go find your soul,
Go smell the wind, go far

Life is a pity. Close the book, go on,
Write no more on the wall, on the moon,
At the Dog's, in the sea in the snowing bottom.

Go find God in the nights, the clouds too.
When can it stop this big circle at the skull
oh Neal; there are men, things outside to do.

Great huge tombs of Activity
in the desert of Africa of the heart,
The black angels, the women in bed

with  their beautiful arms open for you
in their youth, some tenderness
begging in the same shroud

The big clouds of new continents,
O foot tired in climes so mysterious
Don't go down the other side for nothing.

guess what?

my best friend, insomnia is back! hurray!

what I am reading:

"Beyond the hand holding this book that I'm reading, I see another hand lying idle and slightly out of focus--my extra hand."

Lydia Davis is exactly the writer I want to be.

birthday present to myself

Yesterday, while following my usual pattern of internet wandering, I stumbled upon an incredibly inexpensive plane ticket to Paris. Considering there were only four remaining seats on the plane, plus my inexplicably spontaneous nature, I bought one. I have wanted to see Paris for, primarily, my entire life. I am going to Paris!
Also, I've been having dreams, recently, about Rome (my mother and I went when I was ten and both feel an intense connection to the city).

Photobucket

Since I'll already be in Paris, why not take the train through the French and Italian countryside? I am going to Rome!

Of course, I'm always recruiting people to come with me on my adventures: Lisi, Ellie and my mom are all candidates, but I am heavily considering going by myself.
